Moya Aero was awarded a grant to develop a Portable Ground Control System for high-capacity drones.

Moya Aero has been awarded a $2 million grant by FINEP, a Brazilian government organization that promotes science, technology, and innovation.

São José dos Campos, March, 11th, 2025

The funding is intended to develop a portable ground control system for high-capacity drones as part of a program titled Economic Subsidy for Innovation in Continuous Flow—More Innovation Brazil: Urban Mobility.

The company's proposal aims to create a portable and scalable ground control system for high-capacity drones, utilizing artificial intelligence for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations. This innovation is expected to revolutionize cargo transportation. Moya will collaborate with UFRJ - Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and UPE – University of Pernambuco.

"The new system will lighten the operational burden on pilots through automation and is designed to lower pollutant emissions by facilitating the use of hybrid and electric vehicles. Additionally, it will optimize delivery routes using AI, increasing efficiency and safety in simultaneous drone operations. These enhancements promise to make logistics more effective, economical, and sustainable," said Alexandre Zaramela, Moya's CEO.

With autonomous management and route optimization, a single operator can manage multiple drones, improving delivery processes and extending access to remote areas. This advancement will enhance the delivery of fractional cargo over medium distances and benefit applications in environmental monitoring, public safety, and defense. It creates new business opportunities while significantly reducing costs and carbon emissions.

Overall, this system represents a significant step towards a future where technology enhances the efficiency and sustainability of cargo transportation.

About Moya Aero

Moya Aero, founded in 2020, is a spin-off of ACS Aviation, a Brazilian aeronautical engineering, aircraft research and development company located in São José dos Campos. This extraordinary experience is behind the Moya eVTOL, the first high-capacity autonomous vehicle built in Latin America.
The Moya team's experience spans a broad spectrum of the aerospace industry. This knowledge is used to capitalize on market opportunities with aerial vehicle concepts that address many long-standing logistics problems, such as reducing CO₂ emissions, connecting remote regions with vital supplies, improving the efficiency, productivity, and cost of crop management, and connecting businesses with customers faster, cheaper, and more straightforward. Seed4Science, Hards, and Techstars invested in Moya and have the support of FINEP in developing the prototype. Helisul Drones, ProAero, and Certifica Drones are partners.
Our ideas are creative. Our products are transformative.
